Travelling with your family

Are you looking to re-create your childhood summer holiday memories with your own family or create some of your own?

Some people may think it is daunting to travel with children young or old, but we have put together a few things to think about when selecting your accommodation. Some may be important points to some people and some would be a bonus, but we hope this makes the task a little easier.

Location – Host has 70+ motels and hotels dotted around the country from Invercargill to Kerikeri, so plenty to choose from and possibly means less travel time if wanting something close to home.
If driving, think about parking – whether there is a park available for your vehicle in the motel grounds, close to your room etc.
If flying, think about how you will get to and from the airport to your accommodation and out and about for activities, dining, shopping etc. once you are there. Is it an easily accessible location close to town or to public transport.
Size – how many rooms do you need, how many beds, how much extra space.
Facilities - Is the accommodation self-contained with full cooking facilities (great for families trying to keep expenses down by not having to dine out for every meal), a restaurant on site, laundry facilities, cot/highchairs availability, swimming pool, outdoor area, playground (for the younger ones), games room, Sky TV, Internet access or Wifi (for the older ones who can’t be without!).
Affordability – Is the accommodation family affordable, are the basic needs catered for and is it clean and comfortable.
