Taupo will be buzzing next month with the iconic Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge on November 30. Around 10,000 cyclists from around New Zealand and the world take part in the event, which offers 17 categories to suit individuals and teams of all ages and cycling abilities.
The lake itself was created nearly two thousand years ago by a volcanic eruption – the evidence of which can be found at the Craters of the Moon with geysers, steaming craters and boiling mud pools.
